SCULPTURE GARDEN

The grounds of Kasteel het Nijenhuis cover a total of 4.5 hectares and accommodate over 100 sculptures by famous artists from the Netherlands and abroad. The pieces are displayed in the ornamental garden, on the lawns and between the trees. They are drawn from the collections of Museum de Fundatie, the Province of Overijssel and Museum Beelden aan Zee. Well-known non-Dutch names in the sculpture garden include Kenneth Armitage, Mario Negri, Eugène Dodeigne, Andreu Alfaro, Waldemar Otto, Pino Castagna, Ossip Zadkine and the Zhou Brothers. Dutch sculpture is represented by Hendrik Ansum, Charlotte van Pallandt, Han Wezelaar, Karel Appel, Nic Jonk, Arthur Spronken, Dora Dolz, Frode Bolhuis and many others. Among the particularly eye-catching exhibits are the metres-high sculptures of Tom Claassen, Ronald A. Westerhuis, David Bade, Caspar Berger and Yasser Ballemans. Each year, one or more of these pieces is installed on the Lowlands Festival site in Biddinghuizen.
