Do We Care? - in collaboration with Utrecht School of the Arts

In Do We Care? 27 alumni, teachers and students of Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) will explore how they define ‘care’. The word ‘care’ can have various meanings: to take care of, for example, or to care for.Care can come from affection, but it can also be a survival strategy, a political tool or a way of working. Culture is also a form of care. Together, we take care of our books, films and art. Perhaps art is in fact the ultimate form of care. It is after all what remains, long after death, which the generations after us will (hopefully) take care of.  We Care!, comprising three themes – taking care, body care and healthcare – will present narratives that question our ‘caring society’, and show how new makers produce new images and statements. In their films, fashion, installations, textiles, performances and sculpture, these makers hold up a mirror to our times, asking Do We Care?

Do We Care? is the third exhibition produced by Museum de Fundatie and HKU. Our previous projects were Whose is the World? (2021) and Nature Talks – art & design that is not centred on people (2022). Like these previous editions, Do We Care? is part of the Fundatie Future Factory, Museum de Fundatie’s laboratory where multidisciplinary makers seek out the pulse of today’s world and explore the issues that will shape the future.

Do We Care? is part of the Future Factory, Museum de Fundatie's laboratory. Here, multidisciplinary makers explore the heartbeat of time. What themes define the future? Answers can be seen in exhibitions both inside and outside the museum.
